Los Lobos - The Town And The City - Hollywood

In case you haven't already recognized this fact, Los Lobos is a great American band. They continually manage to transcend genres and trends, time and space with the greatest of ease. The Town And The City is another rock-solid effort from everyone's favorite East L.A. group.

As they say in the liner notes... "Los Lobos still is: DAVID HILDAGO, CONRAD LOZANO, LOUIE PEREZ, CESAR ROSAS, and STEVE BERLIN." Their never-changing lineup underscores their strength - they write and play so well together as a band. The Town And The City is another example of this, and songs like smokey "The Road To Gila Bend", "Free Up" and "Hold On" will properly advance the wolves' legacy. Actually, there's not a clunker tune on the new album, but I'll also cite "The City" and the playful "Two Dogs And A Bone" for special attention.

By the way... if you have never seen Los Lobos live, or if you haven't seen them in awhile, by all means do so! In the meantime, if you haven't given them much thought in the past few (or several) years, a couple of listens to this new album may help you rediscover this fine band.
