Chuck Prophet - Soap and Water - Yep Roc

He's indie rock's answer to Tom Petty... he keeps the loose, Stones-y vibe alive... he's the one and only Chuck Prophet, and he's just released another collection of cool tunes called Soap & Water.

Always the hopeless romantic underneath the gruff exterior, Prophet once again manages to sound funny and romantic on the album's first single "Freckle," as he gallantly offers to "help get you out of that dress... before you catch cold". Elsewhere, Prophet alwys seems to have fun, as on "Let's Do Something Wrong", and other fine tunes like the title track and "Doubter Out Of Jesus (All Over You)." Musically, it's vintage Prophet, with power pop hooks, Farfisa, cutting guitar and solid backbeat.

Chuck Prophet plays the Tin Angel this Friday November 9 as part of the T.A.'s 15th anniversary celebration, and will be our guest this Friday on "Free At Noon."
