Reverend John Wilkins

Reverend John Wilkins Al Modla Photography
This session of Sense of Place Memphis focuses on Reverend John Wilkins. Wilkins' introduction to music came from his talented father. Wilkins is the son of Reverend Robert Wilkins, who originally wrote "Prodigal Son," made famous by the Rolling Stones.

Reverend John Wilkins followed in his father's footsteps, combining gospel and blues. In this interview, he discusses not only how he came to be a musician, but how he found his calling to be a preacher, plus he gives us a live performance.
