Night Beds

A Singer With A Gorgeous High Voice? An Album Recorded In A Cabin? But Night Beds Are Not Bon Iver!

Night Beds is the work of Winston Yellin who is originally from Colorado Springs where he started making music. The first thing you will hear is his amazing wide-ranging voice. Like many before him he travelled to Nashville and that’s where he wrote the songs for Night Beds’ debut Country Sleep. The lyrics may have come from Nashville but the open dusty sound of the record is pure Colorado. The songs were written in a pre-civil war cabin once owned by Johnny Cash but , as we will hear today, that’s where the Justin Vernon comparisons end. He’ll even include a song that didn’t make it on the album. Night Beds, that voice, don’t miss that voice.

Be sure to check out the web extra - our live version of their song - "22" at WorldCafe.NPR.org.
