Singer-Songwriter Caitlin Rose’s First Musical Love Certainly Wasn’t Country

Caitlin Rose is rightfully the current darling of the new young Nashville. She has just released The Stand-In her second album. Caitlin may have moved to Nashville when she was seven, but she resisted country music at first mostly because her parents worked in the industry. Indie rock was more her music. In fact she discovered Merle Haggard through a Mountain Goats record. It was through a contact in England that she got to make her first album Own Side Now. Her deft personal lyrics and her melodic sense drive these songs.

For our Sense of Place: Nashville series we’ll talk with Caitlin about how the city has changed and hear a live set with her band. Don’t forget our web extra track “Pink Champagne.” There are two videos of Caitlin. - one is a solo acoustic version of “Like A Peach” and the other is a sordid account of our afternoon into evening bar crawl that you can watch on Sense of Place: Nashville. Caitlin certainly knows where Nashville's best drinking establishments are!
