Grimey's Records Top 5

Grimey’s Records Top Five Best New Nashville Bands

To help us find out what is the best new local music in Nashville all signs pointed to Grimey’s Records the mecca for indie music in town. It was opened by Mike Grimes in 1999 who also manages The Basement, the club, uh, right under Grimey’s. The institution keeps growing recently opening a satellite store right next to its expanded store. In this session, co-founder Doyle Davis who also hosts a local music show, The Indie Underground Hour on local station Lightning 100, picks his five best local bands.

Not to give it all away but Doyle’s list includes dude-rock mainstays Natural Child and another band that has been around for a while The Features. There is also a nod to Nashville’s underexposed R&B scene with The Dynamites. He also is enamored with our World Cafe: Next artist for this week Luella and The Sun. You can find it all on Sense of Place: Nashville

Session Set List:
Luela and the Sun / Fly So Free / Fly So Free (the single)
Linear Downfall / “a Wave Of (facing the ghost)” / Gloomillume
Natural Child / “Ain’t Gonna Stop” / For the Love of the Game
The Features / “This Disorder” / The Features
The Dynamites / "Still Can’t Get You Out of My Heart” / Love is Only Everything
