Parquet Courts Work Really Hard To Sound Like They Don’t!

August 28, 2013 - The nonchalant raw riffage and the perfect off the cuff lyrics. Those are the things that attracted me to Light Up Gold the second full length album from the Brooklyn based band Parquet Courts.
Andrew Savage and Aaron Brown are from Texas. The two moved north and started work on a 4 track cassette called American Specialties and then the new album. "Pitchfork" captures it in this description: "not just smart, but frantically smart, blurting out everything it might have to say before the time clock expires." Today we are lucky to hear three new songs that the band worked on right before their World Cafe session this past April. We’ll also find out just how seriously Andrew and company take this.

This session originally aired June 5, 2013.
