Laura Mvula

British Singer Laura Mvula’s Conservatory Training Leads To Her Unique Orchestral-Pop Sound

August 26, 2013 - Birmingham based singer Laura Mvula was on the BBC’s Sound of 2013 after releasing just her debut "She" EP last year.

Her proper full-length Sing To The Moon gives ample support to the honor with its blend of classic pop jazz and soul. The album released here in The States this year. Today’s performance with her live band, that includes her brother and sister, has harmonies that will send chills up your spine. She tells us how she always knew she would compose but resisted being a performer. We are all glad Laura Mvula made the decision to take center stage.

This session originally aired June 26, 2013.
