July 19, 2013 - Kassin was the perfect person to talk with us about the contemporary music scene in Rio during our Sense of Place visit. Not only is he an artist - his latest album Sonhando Devager translates to “Dream Slowly” – but he is an in-demand producer working out of his own studio with people like Marisa Monte and Arto Lindsay.
He is best known in the States for a series of trio albums he made with Moreno Veloso and Domenico Lancelotti. Each of them captained an album with the others referred to as “+2.” Kassin + 2 was an album called Futurismo. He discusses how his new album Sonhando Devager became an album about dreams. We also get his take on the interaction in the Rio music community. Today’s performance comes from Eco Som studios in
Rio and was recorded in front of an audience of World Cafe Travel Adventurers during our
Sense of Place: Rio series.
