Memphis Roots Singer Valerie June Shines With Major Label Debut

October 3, 2013 - Valerie June has been recording her blend of folk, blues and Appalachian influenced music since the mid-2000’s with local releases in Memphis.
Now, following a relocation to Brooklyn, comes Pushin’ Against A Stone her major label debut co-produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and Kevin Augunus. She talks with the Cafe’s Michaela Majoun about growing up in small-town Jackson, Tennessee, working a lot of day-jobs and how her music developed.
