That album was hailed as his most positive in years, perhaps thanks to him finding love with performance artist Laurie Anderson. My memory of Lou and this conversations, as many other interviewers have described him, is as an intimidating man. You don't hear that today as he freely discusses his friend, the late Doc Pomus, whose death helped inspire 1992's Magic and Loss as well as shares what went into writing his classic Velvet Underground songs "Heroin" and "Sweet Jane" while strumming a guitar.
