Sense of Place: Toronto Memoryhouse Plays Us Brand New Music

November 22, 2013 - For our Sense of Place visit to Toronto we had a chance to do a session with the band Memoryhouse, a two piece featuring singer Denise Nouvion and composer arranger Evan Abeele.
When the group formed in 2009, Denise, who had a background in the visual arts as a photographer, had not sung a lot while Evan had studied classical composition. From that beginning came their well-received 2011 debut The Slideshow Effect. A lot has changed with Denise’s growing strength as a vocalist and Evan giving over more of the songwriting to her while he concentrates on arranging. You’ll hear the change in today’s session of brand new songs as the duo works towards a new album which will be ready when… well, when they feel it’s ready, as Memoryhouse tells us today.
