Sense of Place: Toronto - The Folk Band Whitehorse with Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet

November 27, 2013 - For our Toronto Sense of Place series we brought in to the World Cafe studios, Whitehorse, a band that happens to be a married couple. Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland.
The two had successful and separate solo careers in Canadian folk and rock, but in 2011 they decided to musically join forces and create Whitehorse. Their debut, self-titled LP came shortly afterward. 2012 saw their second album, The Fate of the World Depends On This Kiss, shortlisted for the Polaris Prize. On stage the two are able to be a band through tape loops and running around the stage to play a wide variety of instruments. They stick to acoustic guitars in our session today. We’ll find out what it means to be married and working intensely together as well as get their list of favorite things about Toronto (heads up, it’s a long list!).
