Rhye

September 6, 2013 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Rhye joins host David Dye. Rhye started posting songs and videos online in 2012 but they were careful to not reveal the identity of the musicians involved or show any imagery of the performers.
The band’s debut album, Woman, was released this Spring. Unsure of who was behind the group many began to think the lead singer was a woman. But it turns out that Rhye is the work of Canadian singer Mike Milosh and Dannish producer and musician Robin Hannibal. Mike Milosh joins us to talk about how he first figured out that many assumed he was a woman, explains how he feels about the mix up, and discusses why the duo chose to be so mysterious in the early presentation of their work. And Daughn Gibson, another artist with a unique aesthetic sense. Crafting spooky, sinister songs, Gibson has earned a number of fans for his 2012 debut All Hell and his brand new disc Me Moan. He shares what inspires his ghostly writing. That and more this week on Conversations from the World Cafe!
