The album, There’s No Leaving Now, is terrific - a follow-up to 2010’s The Wild Hunt and, for fans of his previous work, the latest release does not disappoint.
Earlier this month he drew large crowds to his on-stage performance at the Newport Folk Festival(http://www.npr.org/2012/07/31/157664983/the-tallest-man-on-earth-live-in-concert-newport-folk-2012), where he "blazed thorugh songs from each of his records."
In support of his new album, "There's No Leaving Now," released June 12 on Dead Oceans, Matsson is touring this summer, with gigs in the U.S., Sweden, the U.K., and Belgium. He played to a sold out crowd in Philly for an XPN Live Friday Free At Noon concert on June 27. Read the review and listen to the full concert on The Key music blog. In this World Cafe session, he chats with David Dye about his recording process, touring solo, and plays four great songs from his new album, including the centerpiece, "To Just Grow Away."
