Of Monsters and Men

Of Monsters and Men is a six-person collective hailing from Iceland and the makers of very catchy folk-pop. The group came together in 2009 when lead singer Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir began recruiting back-ups for her acoustic solo act. In 2010, Of Monsters and Men gained national fame when they won an annual Icelandic battle of the bands competition, and since then, the buzz has only grown.

Incorporating melodica, glockenspiel, accordion, and brass into their cheery pop base, Of Monsters and Men have coasted to international recognition on the strength of singles like the bright and upbeat "Little Talks". They've just debuted their first studio full-length, "My Head Is An Animal", and it's nothing if not charming.

Dreamy and simple, the foundation of "My Head Is An Animal" is minimalist folk. It's simple and effective, allowing the focus to stay on the entrancing vocal harmonies. Released just this April, "My Head Is An Animal" will be the focus of an international tour that's already sold out plenty of venues. Given their communal chemistry akin to Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros and their folk-pop sensibility like that of Mumford & Sons, it's clear that Of Monsters and Men are going to be around for some time.
