This UK soul songstress wrote her first song at the age of 11, began participating in music competitions in her teens, and was soon contributing to song afer charting song, including Chipmunk's "Diamond Rings" and Wiley's "Never Be Your Woman." She branched out into more mainstream connections, writing for R&B singer Leona Lewis and pop vocalist Susan Boyle. Given her powerful, passionate vocals and her inherent understanding of what makes a great song, there was little doubt that her debut would be a doozy. After her first solo single, the breakbeat, soulful "Heaven," became a world-wide hit, the buzz for the full-length was all but deafening.

"Our Version of Events" was released just this past February and went platinum within its second week, entering the charts at number one. On top of her Brit Award, Sande now has a record-breaking album to check off her list of to-do's for 2012.
