Hailed by his contemporaries, listeners, and critics as an extraordinarily gifted singer-songwriter, Nile has crafted a versatile style that can be just as moving in a stadium as in an intimate coffee shop setting. Born and raised in New York, Nile was surrounded by music from an early age, learning classical piano at age 8 and immersing himself in the music of Elvis, Buddy Holly, and Fats Domino. Eventually making his way to Greenwich Village, he established a residency and began to build a reputation for powerful, Americana-oriented performances. Since then, despite a couple of hiatuses, he has continually been writing music, performing with the likes of Tori Amos, Elvis Costello, The E-Street Band and Barenaked Ladies. He's also released eleven live and studio albums, including his latest, "The Innocent Ones".
First released in Europe to general acclaim, "The Innocent Ones" is "an album with a number of songs dedicated to the downtrodden, the forgotten, the outcasts, the hopeless, the innocent ones," as described by Nile. Imbued with the infectious and robust nature of classic rock'n'roll, it's an album with a mission: get people to admit life can be tough, but things are far from hopeless. With whip-smart lyrics, Nile's powerhouse guitar work, and the kind of strapping melodies one could find in a Springsteen classic, "The Innocent Ones" is both infectious and pensive.
