Consisting of members Honus Honus, Pow Pow, Chang Wang, Turkey Moth, and Jefferson, Man Man has since cultivated a reputation for the fanciful and odd. The members often plan on-stage outfits, complete with warpaint. Their music is also a ways off the beaten path. The epitome-of-experimental band keeps a long list of instruments (apart from the norm) at hand while recording, including a clavinet, Moog Little Phatty, sousaphone, French horn, flute, euphonium, xylophone, marimba, pots and pans, toy noise makers, chinese funeral horns, spoons, smashing plates, and fireworks.
Man Man began to tour extensively in 2006, when their second release, "Six Demon Bag", garnered enthusiastic reviews and the beginning of an adoring fan base. Since that time, Man Man has released two more full-lengths and an EP. The latest is "Life Fantastic", the highest-charting album yet for the five-piece. "Life Fantastic" was released just this past May, and has been hailed as a best yet, in terms of production as well as emotional, dark intensity. Lead man Honus Honus sings of corpses at picnics, deranged killers, the torment of a bad relationship, and drugs. The release can be pitch black at times, but there are plenty of hooks and not a few compelling melodies on "Life Fantastic".
Man Man is currently touring throughout Europe, with stops in London, Paris, Belgium, and Madrid. Then it's back to the states for a slew of shows from New York to Sacramento to Hawaii.
