Elbow

A Delightful Acoustic Performance and Conversation With Britain’s Elbow

May 29, 2014 - Our guests today, the British band Elbow, formed in 1997 in their hometown of Bury near Manchester. A little over a decade later they had a huge hit in the UK with the Mercury Prize-winning album The Seldom Seen Kid. It catapulted the band into major arenas at home. After consciously trying for another hit record on Build A Rocket Boys, the band has gone back to doing what they do best on their new one The Take Off and Landing of Everything, making understated Elbow albums. We will hear them in an acoustic performance recorded in front of an audience at World Cafe Live and I will talk with lead singer Guy Garvey and bassist Pete Turner about the evolution of the group.
