Esme Patterson Reimagines –What If Female Song Characters Were Able To Tell Their Own Story?

June 2, 2014 - Our World Cafe: Next artist today is Esme Patterson from Denver, Colorado where she is a founding member of the 7 piece folk band Paper Bird. In 2012 she made her first solo album All Princes because there were songs a bit more personally emotional that didn’t fit with the band. This year she has a fascinating release called Woman To Woman that takes a look at female characters in famous songs by male composers and flips the songs viewpoint to that of the characters themselves. As you can imagine things end up quite differently. We’ll play two inspired by Elvis Costello’s “Alison” and The Beach Boys “Caroline, No” and you can download them on our World Cafe: Next podcast.
