Merril Garbus: Still In The “Bizness” Of Taking Risks With tUnE-yArDs

One of the most inventive and creative artists of the last few years joins us today on the Cafe. It is tUnE-yArDs, the work of Merril Garbus.
Merril's first release Bird Brains was a recorded with a hand held tape machine. Her first release for 4 AD was 2011's W H O K I L L which was enthusiastically received both by the critics and fans. It established Merril as a musical force. This year she released the new album Nikki Nack and joins us to perform live. Merril has the ability to be wildly entertaining while taking on important subjects like the fragile supply of water on songs like “Water Fountain”. Merril is here to talk about her recent trip to Haiti and the element of risk in her live performances. Very excited to have tUnE-yArDs on the show today.
