Craig Finn And The Hold Steady: Music From Their 10 Year History

No band has worked harder to be inclusive as have our guests today the Brooklyn band that sings about Minneapolis - The Hold Steady. Lead singer and songwriter Craig Finn: “We started this band when most of us were in our early 30s. We had kind of been through the 20s thing – indie rock, hipsterism and all of that and wanted to do something that was not exclusive but inclusive.” If you have seen the crowd at a Hold Steady show shouting the dense exultant lyrics along with Craig then you know they have succeeded admirably. We'll hear a lengthy set today in front of a live audience at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. It's a set that includes songs from their new album Teeth Dreams as well as some classics including a song that Craig has said is his favorite Hold Steady song of their ten year history.
