Robyn Hitchcock

A Deep Dive With The Witty Robyn Hitchcock

We are extremely happy to welcome Robyn Hitchcock back to the World Cafe. He is a man who oozes intelligence in his music and his conversation. His latest album is called The Man Upstairs and is produced by Joe Boyd who is known for his work with early Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, The Incredible String Band and others. The new release is modeled after albums Judy Collins made in the 1960s that combined her songs with covers from older and contemporary songwriters. Robyn was originally a member of the jangly psychedelic Soft Boys in the 1970s and started making his own albums, both solo and with the Egyptians, in the 1980s. He has a wonderful way with unexpected lyrical trips. He is a welcome raconteur, certainly around here. Check out our in studio video to catch Robyn’s polka-dot shirt and we have a free download as well.
