Hurray for the Riff Raff

Hurray For The Riff Raff For “Anybody Who Feels A Little Bit An Outsider”
Hurray For The Riff Raff really broke through to a wider audience in 2014. The band had been known in folk and punk circles years coming up from the “Steam-punk”scene from the streets of New Orleans where they formed. The loose aggregation has coalesced around the talents of lead singer and songwriter Alynda Lee Segara and got a real boost when their album Small Town Heroes was released by ATO Records. Critics and audiences found this artist and we are re-visiting our session as our first Vintage Cafe of 2015. We asked Alynda how she defines the “riff raff.” “I feel like at first I was definitely referring to travelling kids and people that were in my direct little circle. But the Riff Raff is turning into anybody who feels a little bit like an outsider or an underdog.”
