There is a quote on the website of our World Cafe: Next band this week, The Monophonics from the San Francisco bay area. It's from Al Bell, the legendary one-time head of Stax records, "One of the best live soul bands I have ever seen!” Actually Al only got it half right. There are many more sides to The Monophonics. They are a psychedelic soul band that draws from many genres from the 60's and 70's including psychedelic rock.
