Sense of Place: Philly is a perfect time to feature the work of the Philadelphia rapper Sugar Tongue Slim or S T S. He has just released S T S X RJD2 a collaboration with the Philadelphia based DJ RJD2 which is some of his most exciting music yet. Originally from Atlanta Slim arrived in Philadelphia to go to school and infiltrate the hip-hop underground. But not in the way you might imagine. He was more likely to be at poetry slams than rap gigs. As you will hear he has different flow to his rhymes. He considers himself a poet first and often writes his verse separately.
