Tomorrow the Eau Claire Music Fest begins - a gathering of the Eau Claire, Wisconsin musical tribe. It was the break out success of Justin Vernon’s band Bon Iver that initially put the focus on Wisconsin music. There are many other bands that have become known like Field Report and Phil Cook from Megafaun along with our guest today Aero Flynn. That band, led by Josh Scott, grew out of the same 2002 Eau Claire, Wisconsin music scene that gave us Bon Iver and Megafaun. The story, as told in the Aero Flynn bio written by fellow Wisconsin musician Chris Porterfield of Field Report, is that in 2002 Justin Vernon and Josh Scott led bands that shared personnel.. By all reports Josh's band was considered better but a crisis of confidence led him away from the music business while the other people from the music scene soared. He is back. Is the Aero Flynn exactly where he would have gone next in 2002? Probably not but it is very interesting to hear where he ended up musically over a decade later.
