Mercury Rev on World Cafe

Why Mercury Rev’s New Album The Light In You Was Worth Waiting For

Originally formed in Buffalo, New York in the late 80's, our guests today, Mercury Rev have not always had an easy time but they have always had fans. Intra-group tensions and problems finding an audience beyond their devoted cult did not help. They found their greatest success with 1998’s Deserter's Song. Jonathan Donahue and Grasshopper remain at the center of the group located in upstate New York. Former member and producer extraordinaire Dave Fridmann helps when he can although Donahue and Grasshopper produced their new album The Light In You, their first since 2008.
