Band of Horses

Photo Credit Christopher Wilson Following the success of their last record, the 2010 Grammy nominated album, Infinite Arms, alternative country rockers Band of Horses released their fourth studio album, Mirage Rock, on September 18. The record was produced by famed English musician/engineer/producer Glyn Johns,
who has worked with legendary artists, such as Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Band, The Rolling Stones, and, more recently, Ryan Adams and Kings of Leon. The band rose to indie fame after gaining attention from Sub Pop when they opened for Iron & Wine during their 2004 Seattle-area shows. Since then, the band has undergone numerous line-up changes, but founding member Ben Bridwell has remained the band’s lead singer and chief songwriter. This session of the World Cafe features live recordings from Band of Horses’ World Café Live Free at Noon performance last month, as well as an interview with WXPN’s David Dye. Bridwell talks with Dye about the origin of the title of band’s latest album, working with Glyn Johns, and moving forward without abandoning the band’s roots.
