Jack Johnson

September 27, 2013 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Jack Johnson joins host David Dye in the studio. Songwriter and surfer Jack Johnson creates sunny, relaxed albums fitting with his life in Hawaii. Like past discs, his new album From Here To Now To You was inspired by his wife of 13 years.
It is his fourth #1 record on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. He joins us to discuss how his wife is integral to his creative process and how he tries to give back to his home state. And Michael Nesmith. The wooly hat wearing former Monkee was outselling the Beatles and The Rolling Stones at the height of the TV band’s popularity in 1967. Despite his songwriting skills (he wrote the hit “Different Drum” for Linda Ronstadt/the Stone Poneys) he struggled to get the respect he deserved. He talks about those days and how he helped pioneer music videos a decade later before the advent of MTV. That and more this week on Conversations from the World Cafe!
