Bobby McFerrin - Encore

Bobby McFerrin - Encore Carol Friedman
July 17, 2013 - Vocal acrobat Bobby McFerrin was almost inescapable with his catchy and lighthearted 1988 hit “Don’t Worry Be Happy”. Over his nearly 4 decade long career, he has collaborated with numerous virtuoso musicians like Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and YoYo Ma.
For his latest album he decided to pay tribute to his father. The late Robert McFerrin did an artful 1958 album of black spirituals called Deep River. And now Bobby McFerrin has released Spirityouall, his take on that music. He explains how he was drawn to spirituals as a child, gives some insight into his faith, and also looks back on the song that made him famous. Plus Laura Mvula. The British songstress has penned a debut album overflowing with intricate vocal harmonies. It is called Sing to the Moon. She talks about how she never intended to move from backup singer to the leader of a band.
