Pavement Fans, Want New Music From Stephen Malkmus? Listen To The Jicks

February 14, 2014 - In 2001 when the 90’s indie/slacker band Pavement went on hiatus Stephen Malkmus formed the Jicks. When Pavement reformed for successful touring in 2010 he wrote no new music for the occasion but there was new music from the Jicks. Clearly Malkmus is committed to the Jicks and if you count there are now more Jicks albums than those from Pavement. The new Jicks album is called Wigout at Jagbags and has some very fine new writing from Malkmus that we will hear today. Songs like “Lariat” and “Houston Hades” are among his best. We will also discuss that clever lyric writing and find out how seriously Stephen takes it.
