Vince Gill and Paul Franklin

February 14, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Vince Gill and Paul Franklin join host David Dye in the studio. Two of country music’s finest have created a new album, dedicated to two of country’s finest that came before them.
Paul Franklin, the multi-instrumentalist with more than 500 albums to his credit, and singer Vince Gill, who has earned 20 Grammy awards, more than any other country artist, over the course of 20 albums, have come together to release Bakersfield. The record is a tribute to Bakersfield country pioneers Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, who created the Bakersfield sound in the 1960s, a rougher style of country in contrast to the more polished Nashville sound. Plus, we go back in our archives to our 2003 interview with the man himself, Merle Haggard- he talks about his most famous, and in his mind, most misunderstood, song. That’s this week on Conversations from the World Cafe!
