John Butler Trio

February 28, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, the John Butler Trio join host David Dye. For over a decade and a half the John Butler Trio have been gathering fans through steady touring and quality songwriting. The group came together in Australia, where John Butler has lived since 1986, moving there after spending his early years in the United States.
Today they play in front of an audience at World Cafe Live and John Butler talks about songwriting and the differences between Australia and the US. Plus, Asgeir.
The Icelandic songwriter is so popular at home that some have said one in ten people there own his debut. Late last year he brought an English version of the disc to the US on the small label One Little Indian. On March 4th it moves up to a major label release here on Columbia. Asgeir reflects on why the island nation of Iceland is bursting with creativity. That and more this week on Conversations from the World Cafe!
