Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks Image by: Leah Nash
March 04, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks join host David Dye in the studio. Stephen Malkmus led the incredibly well regarded indie rock band Pavement in the 90s.
While the music he created then still may be what many listeners think of when they hear his name, since 2001 he has been working with The Jicks. With The Jicks he has put out more music than the band that made him famous, and it is equally weird, wild and wonderful as his work back then. His 6th album with The Jicks is called Wig Out at Jagbags and Stephen Malkmus will reflect on his much studied lyrics and how a move across the Atlantic has influenced his work. And, Lucius. Lead singers Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig explain how they came up with the name for their debut, Wildewoman, and share some nearly irresistible tunes as well as the secrets behind their matching outfits in an interview with the Cafe’s Michaela Majoun. That and more this week on Conversations from the World Cafe!
