Barr Brothers

The Barr Brothers self-titled debut combines the delicate techniques of harp and duet with rock 'n' roll song writing sensibility to create a powerfully moving folk album.

Keeping up with the strongest contenders in indie folk in both sound and serendipitous history, The Barr Brothers formed through uncanny luck and misfortune. Real-life brothers Andrew and Brad Barr were touring North America playing in an experimental rock band when a fire broke out in the Montreal club where they were performing. As everyone left the club to seek safety in the rain outside, Andrew offered his jacket to a waitress, Meghan Clinton, who is now The Barr Brother's co-manager, not to mention the reason Andrew decided to move to Montreal.  Following his brother to Montreal, Brad moved in next door to harpist Sarah Pagé, whose music floated through the wall that separated their apartments and ultimately became a major influence on Brad's song writing.

Pagé and the Barr brothers joined forces with Andrés Vial, a talented multi-instrumentalist, and suddenly they had a band.  "The Barr Brothers" album was released three years after the band formed, and the songs seem appropriately thoughtful and deliberate.  From lullabies like "Cloud" to the toe-tapper "Give The Devil Back His Heart," the album is rich in variety and elegantly streamlined.
