Active Child

Under the moniker Active Child, the 80's influenced Pat Grossi mixes ethereal vocals with unpredictably gorgeous arrangements of harp, synth and electronic drums.

Grossi brings aspects of church music to his compositions from an authentic place: he has been singing and playing music since his early days as a choir boy. His 2010 Curtis Lane EP offered a glimpse into Grossi's talent as a solo artist, after his experience in the band Weight Room.  Yet, as his website promises, nothing can quite prepare a listener for what they hear on his new album, "You Are All I See."  It is a combination of R&B, 80's pop, indie electronica and classical music that is beautifully and distinctly Active Child.

Grossi's solo work has earned him tours across Europe and gigs opening for a diverse sampling of artists including James Blake, M83, and School of Seven Bells.  Though Active Child overlaps with artists across genres, there is something remarkably unique about this album.  It attains a level of maturity and sophistication that is immediately obvious, and has the sparkling grace of light reflecting on water.  Each listen through the album is striking and surprising and should keep listeners contemplatively busy until Active Child returns to the States this spring.
