First gaining fame with blues-rock bands Gov’t Mule and The Allman Brothers Band, Warren Haynes has gone on to record with everyone from The Dead to Dave Matthews Band. On his latest solo release, "Man in Motion", Haynes proves once again that he is an extremely capable songwriter, and one whose pure love of music is incredibly infectious. "Man in Motion" finds Haynes taking a funky and soulful, at times roots rock, approach to his music. With sunny syncopation and gorgeous call-and-response between Warren and the horn section, Haynes serves up a real treat. Despite his incredibly broad body of studio work, this might be the most soul-and-groove-oriented record Haynes has ever produced, perfect for the warm summer days.
Recorded live in Willie Nelson’s own Pedernales Studios, "Man in Motion" feels heartfelt and exciting; it is easy to recognize the fun Haynes had while recording the album--and that fun is easily transferable to the listener. Of course, one of the most mesmerizing aspects of this record is the vocals, with Haynes’ smoky voice giving a bold and confident delivery. Combined with thrilling saxophone, piercing organ, and lively backup vocals, "Man in Motion" proves that Warren Haynes is one of the most fascinating and capable musicians in rock today.
