Vintage Cafe David Wax Museum’s Magical First Visit
David Wax Museum brought its lively blend of traditional Mexican music and Americana rock to a packed crowd in Non-COMM’s upstairs cafe last night. Drawing heavily from their 2012 offering Knock Knock Get Up, the seven-piece group played a variety of instruments including horns, accordion and a percussive jawbone. November's Artist To Watch is the folk and rootsy rock band, David Wax Museum. They have elements of traditional Mexican Latin music and recently released a new album, Knock Knock Get Up.
To call the music of the David Wax Museum spirited is all at once the truth, but also a bit of an understatement. Since forming in 2009 this band, which at its core is the duo of David Wax and Suz Slezak, has maintained a fierce independent personality and relied on a grassroots approach to spreading their music. They’ve blossomed thanks to their passionate live shows and now their latest album, Knock Knock Get Up, is matching that excitement.
