Edward Sharpe

December 13, 2013 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Edward Sharpe joins host David Dye. When Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros released their debut in 2009, it was a new vehicle for the music of singer Alex Ebert.
With the Edward Sharpe alter ego, he leads the twelve person group with a cult like fervor. Through energetic live shows the band has gathered more and more fans over the years but their music has also been the subject of some criticism. Just before this interview was recorded Spin published a particularly negative review of the band’s latest, self titled disc- Sharpe reflects on the bad press and shares what he was trying to achieve in the band’s new work. And Willy Mason. A decade ago his indie music career was gathering momentum as he was just about to enter his 20s. After two discs and extensive touring, he decided he needed a break. Now, five years later, the Martha’s Vineyard native is back with a new disc Carry On. He talks about how he is trying to do things differently this time around with his latest album. That and more this week on Conversations from the World Cafe!
