Tracey Thorn

Tracey Thorn Edward Bishop
December 20, 2013 - This week on a special holiday edition of Conversations from the World Cafe, Tracey Thorn joins host David Dye in the studio.
Tracey Thorn started her music career in the 1980s, first with Marine Girls, and then with her husband DJ Ben Watt in the incredibly popular Everything But the Girl.
Her voice has been on recordings by The Style Council, Massive Attack, and the Go Betweens, among others.
Everything But the Girl went on hiatus in 2000 as Ben Watt focused on DJing and the pair started a family.
Returning to music solo in 2007, Thorn released two discs before putting out the seasonal selection Tinsel and Lights in 2012.
She shares how Christmas has changed for her over the years, from her days as a touring musician to settling into family life with Watt. Plus Pink Martini.
The mini orchestra led by founder/pianist Thomas Lauderdale and singer China Forbes released their first of a series of seasonal albums in 2010.
We go back to their interview and performance for that first Joy to the World disc and hear both classic and unusual tunes.
That and more this week on Conversations from the World Cafe!
