Hurray For The Riff Raff

March 11, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Hurray for the Riff Raff join host David Dye in the studio. Hurray for the Riff Raff started putting out albums on their own in 2008, releasing three before being picked up by ATO Records.
Recently they released their ATO debut Small Town Heroes and along with it the band has been popping up frequently in the national music press with positive reviews. Singer Alynda Lee Segarra has an incredibly interesting life story, having left her New York home to train hop at the age of 17, she ended up in New Orleans. There she embraced the city’s musical culture and began to write her own songs. She discusses the evolution of the band and how her own personal history has shaped their music. Plus Temples. The much talked about English group reflects on their small town upbringing and the increasing enthusiasm for their music with the release of their debut Sun Structures. That and more this week on Conversations from the World Cafe!
