March 18, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Suzanne Vega joins host David Dye in the studio. Suzanne Vega burst onto the New York City folk scene in 1987 with her second album, Solitude Standing, and the song “Luka”.
Later her short a capella song from that album, “Tom’s Diner” was remixed and made into a hit by DNA. After weathering more than 2 decades and many changes in the music industry, Vega created her own record company and she has just released an inspired new album on her label called Tales from the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles. She talks about it as well as her early days in New York City and why she felt more connected to the remix of “Tom’s Diner” than you might expect. Plus she plays a new version of that song as well as her new material. That’s this week on Conversations from the World Cafe!
