Courtney Barnett

April 25, 2014 - This week on Conversations from the World Cafe, Courtney Barnett joins host David Dye in the studio.
Courtney Barnett has released two EPs at home in Australia over the last two years. After a warm reception there, she combined them for her US debut, The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas. In just one of many signs that her rough and tumble songs are rapidly gaining an audience here, Pitchfork chose her song “Avant Gardener” as one of their Top 50 Tracks of 2013. She talks about being a “hard working slacker” and shares the story behind “Avant Gardener”. Plus Kaiser Chiefs. The British band has already experienced a very successful period in the mid 2000s when they first started releasing albums. Over their last few records they didn’t seem to have quite the same passion anymore. But with their new disc Education, Education, Education, and War that has changed – they explain why. That and more this week on Conversations from the World Cafe!
